Motivational Monday

IF I'M GOING TO ERR AS A WRITER,
I DON'T WANT IT TO BE BECAUSE
I WAS CAUTIOUS WITH MY HEART,
THAT I LOVED WRITING A LITTLE
BUT NEVER TOO MUCH.

MY RESOLUTION IS TO WANT TO WRITE,
TO DESIRE IT, DEEP DOWN.
TO BE JEALOUS OF MY TIME WITH THE PAGE
WHEN I'M AWAY FROM IT.
TO LONG FOR IT.
TO BE TORRID.
TO LOVE IT TOO MUCH
AND TO ACCEPT THE PAIN THAT
MIGHT COME FROM THAT.
(Julianna Baggott)

Yes. Just...yes.

  1. That is perfect writing inspiration. I am exceptionally jealous (grumpy) when I'm away from the page.

    1. I'm the same way re feeling grumpy when I'm away from the page. I'm irritable and can't figure out why then I go - aaah, I haven't written! That's the problem! :)

  2. I love that feeling when it actually seems to hurt when you can't write. I'm hoping it starts to happen more often for me.

  4. I love the line about being jealous of writing time. I never thought of it that way but that's perfect. Great inspiration. I don't know how you always find such perfect quotes! :)

    1. It really is such a great quote!

When I come across a quote that strikes me for some reason, I save it. I never know what's going to be a good one for a Motivational Monday post. :)

  5. Wow. That was powerful stuff.

Especially the "painful" part. Lots and lots of pain.

  6. I love this quote. Sometimes I find myself writing because it's a hobby I like and I set a goal. I guess I need to put my heart into it more, and more often. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I think readers can tell when we've put our hearts, our all, into our work.

  7. I think when we are immersed in our flow during a solid writing session, we should feel light and free.
