IF I'M GOING TO ERR AS A WRITER,
I DON'T WANT IT TO BE BECAUSE
I WAS CAUTIOUS WITH MY HEART,
THAT I LOVED WRITING A LITTLE
BUT NEVER TOO MUCH.
MY RESOLUTION IS TO WANT TO WRITE,
TO DESIRE IT, DEEP DOWN.
TO BE JEALOUS OF MY TIME WITH THE PAGE
WHEN I'M AWAY FROM IT.
TO LONG FOR IT.
TO BE TORRID.
TO LOVE IT TOO MUCH
AND TO ACCEPT THE PAIN THAT
MIGHT COME FROM THAT.
(Julianna Baggott)
Yes. Just...yes.
Great inspiration for a great writing day.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great quote. :)
DeleteJust throw caution to the wind!
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoo!
DeleteThat is perfect writing inspiration. I am exceptionally jealous (grumpy) when I'm away from the page.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way re feeling grumpy when I'm away from the page. I'm irritable and can't figure out why then I go - aaah, I haven't written! That's the problem! :)
DeleteI love that feeling when it actually seems to hurt when you can't write. I'm hoping it starts to happen more often for me.
ReplyDeleteI bet it will, Sarah. Hang in there and stay open to it.
DeleteThe essence of loving what one does...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteGreat inspiration, Madeline. Just what I needed :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad it was helpful, Rachna. :)
DeleteI love the line about being jealous of writing time. I never thought of it that way but that's perfect. Great inspiration. I don't know how you always find such perfect quotes! :)
ReplyDeleteIt really is such a great quote!
DeleteWhen I come across a quote that strikes me for some reason, I save it. I never know what's going to be a good one for a Motivational Monday post. :)
Another wonderful quote! Yes!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it!
DeleteWow. That was powerful stuff.
ReplyDeleteEspecially the "painful" part. Lots and lots of pain.
No pain, no gain. :)
DeleteI love this quote. Sometimes I find myself writing because it's a hobby I like and I set a goal. I guess I need to put my heart into it more, and more often. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think readers can tell when we've put our hearts, our all, into our work.
DeleteI think when we are immersed in our flow during a solid writing session, we should feel light and free.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeleteYou find such wonderful quotes. This one made my day!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that, Noelle!
