CREATIVITY IS LIKE WASHING A PIG.
IT'S MESSY. IT HAS NO RULES.
NO CLEAR BEGINNING, MIDDLE OR END.
IT'S KIND OF A PAIN IN THE ASS,
AND WHEN YOU'RE DONE,
YOU'RE NOT EVEN SURE IF THE PIG IS REALLY CLEAN
OR EVEN WHY YOU WERE WASHING A PIG
IN THE FIRST PLACE.
(Luke Sullivan)
That's pretty much how I feel most of the time.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
How about you?
I definitely do agree that creativity has no set "path", it's beautiful chaos :)
ReplyDelete"Beautiful chaos" - love that! :)
DeleteGood analogy. Don't forget that the pig is also probably annoyed.
ReplyDeleteHa! :)
DeleteWow, does that quote ever describe what I was doing with my art journaling this morning! Love it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your art journaling turned out way prettier than that pig. :)
DeleteLOL. That is so perfect. I'm going to think about washing pigs every time I finish a manuscript.
ReplyDeleteThe quote makes me laugh out loud, too. :)
DeleteI'm laughing. Yep, you nailed it. That darn pig! Once you clean it, it's just going to roll in the mud again anyway.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're laughing on this Monday. :)
Deletelol That's perfect.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! :)
DeleteThis one made me laugh. It's so perfect and true.
ReplyDeleteLot of laughs going around. :)
DeleteYes! Why was I washing that pig?
ReplyDelete"NO CLEAR BEGINNING, MIDDLE OR END." <-- I identified with that part the most. Sometimes I just hop in in the middle, and discover I was at the beginning of the end.
Ha! :)
DeleteI like this motivation. Hits how I feel pretty well.
ReplyDeleteGood! :)
DeleteOH.MY.GOSH! This is perfect! You always seem to have exactly what I need on Mondays. This is cracking me up, and yes... it's just so true!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help. :)
DeleteOur process can be pretty messy at times, can't it? I think the good thing is, we're free to tackle our work however we want as long as it gets the job done!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right - our process is our process, as long as it works for us that's what counts.
