THERE WILL NEVER BE A POINT
IN YOUR CAREER
WHERE YOU ARE DONE CHOOSING
TO BE HERE.
NO ONE WANTS YOU TO BE A WRITER
MORE THAN YOU DO.
SO YOU BETTER CARE ABOUT IT.
YOU BETTER CARE ABOUT IT
MORE THAN ANYTHING.
(Kameron Hurley)
Your mother doesn't think you can do it.
Dream anyway.
Your father doesn't care either way.
Hope anyway.
Your friends roll their eyes.
Create anyway.
Your spouse thinks you've lost your mind.
Write anyway.
Fortunately, my wife knows I've lost my mind.
ReplyDeleteAnd she loves you anyway. :)
DeleteLove this! I'm the only one who wants it more than anything. :)
ReplyDeleteIt really is such a great quote. :)
DeleteAll of the other things I wanted to do when I was a kid, my mom said I couldn't do it. But she did believe I could be a writer. However, my father does care and my friends/siblings do roll their eyes. But I care! :D
ReplyDeleteAs long as you care, that's what's important.
DeleteI'm so blessed that my husband and children have always been so supportive. It really helps when the business gets you down.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I would do without my husband and all of his support and encouragement. :)
DeleteMy spouse can't complain about my writing. If he does, I get to complain about his video games. ;)
ReplyDeleteAh ha! :)
DeleteGreat advice! None of those people can want it for you. It's up to us not only to want it, but to actually do it.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - the wanting is only part of the battle.
DeleteI never really hard a firm grip on reality, so no one is surprised.
ReplyDeleteI had to share this with a friend who is feeling the stress of losing faith. This is the perfect pick me up.
I do hope this helps your friend!
DeleteLove this, Madeline. With just a few words, you have written an extremely powerful post.
ReplyDeleteThank you. <3
You're welcome, even though I really only bounce my words off someone else's great ones. :)
