TRY TO BE LIKE THE TURTLE -
AT EASE IN YOUR OWN SHELL.
(Bill Copeland)
This Monday's quote is from the tortoises. (There was some, um, discussion about this since it says "turtles" not tortoises* but we all agreed - eventually and over a snack/bribe of basil - that the message was what truly counted.)
So, Larry and Mrs. Larry want to remind us all that even though we don't have awesome shells like they do, we should still be comfortable in our own skin and be happy with who we are.
Have a great week, everyone!
( *Generally speaking, turtles live in or near water while tortoises are more land-based.)
Good message! It must be cool to have a shell - at least you know when they don't want company!
ReplyDeleteI often wish I had a shell. Sigh.
DeleteThe first time we took the tortoises to the vet, Larry was so "traumatized" that he stayed in his shell for so long after that I started to get worried!
I agree with wishing we had shells. Sometimes you just want everyone to leave you alone!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce in awhile, one tortoise will be in his/her shell and the other will nose at them, as if wanting the other to come out and keep them company. :)
DeleteI've liked my shell a little too much in the past -- it's like pulling teeth to climb out of it. Rewarding at times, though. Hope your summer is going well, Madeline!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about how coming out of our shells can be rewarding sometimes.
DeleteThe summer? So far, so good. Hope yours is going well, too!
I do feel pretty comfortable in my own shell though there have been times when I didn't. I didn't know the difference between turtles and tortoises.

There are different kinds of turtles and different kinds of tortoises. As long as our guys don't get as big as those Galapagos guys, we'll be okay. :)
DeleteI'm ready for a nice hard shell to climb into. The world has been with me a lot these days--late and soon. Happy rest of summer.
ReplyDeleteI wish there were hard shells for people. I mean, I guess a suit of armor is close but that's not quite the same, is it?
DeleteBe comfortable with who you are or change. Only two options!
ReplyDeleteWise words, Alex!
DeleteGood a message. One we all should aspire to learn quickly.
ReplyDeleteAs quickly, as early, as possible!
DeleteI'm comfortable in my skin...as long as I have clothes over it. Gets chilly in winter. :D
ReplyDeleteHa ha! :)
DeleteGreat message! It would be bad if I had a real shell because I would probably never come out of it...
ReplyDeleteEven the tortoises come out of their shells sometimes...well, not totally out, but you know what I mean.... :)
DeleteThat is so cute! Love it! <3
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it. :)
DeleteAlex said it well.
ReplyDeleteHe's very wise. :)
DeleteI can't say I've always been comfortable "in my shell" but as I get older I do find myself caring less about what others think, and so I think I'm making progress.
ReplyDeleteI agree - that IS progress!
DeleteBut they also retreat into their shells and so do I.
ReplyDeleteWhat I pain I can be. *snicker*

Sometimes retreating is necessary. :)
DeleteWise advice. I'd expect nothing less from your turtles!
ReplyDeleteThey are rather wise, for reptiles so young. :)
