I WATCHED OLD #XFILES
EPISODES LAST NIGHT AND
ATE CHIPS AHOY.
I AM A PERSON THAT
ACCOMPLISHES THINGS
(Mindy McGinnis)
I pretty much snorted coffee all over myself when I first read this. Partly because it's hilarious, and partly because, if you replace XFiles and Chips Ahoy with Project Runway and Reese's Chocolate Peanut Butter candies, you would have . . . me. Even the tortoises have accomplished more than I have this past month.
So, if you're feeling something similar, join me in shutting off the TV, putting down the sweets and making this a better, more productive week - and month! - all around. Like Tim Gunn says, "Make it work!" (See, too much TV. Sigh.)
I'm guilty of watching way too much TV too. I tell myself I'm going to write now, but I never do. I blame my mother:) She always has the TV on in the house, playing loudly.
ReplyDeleteNow that we don't have traditional cable, I find a binge watch a lot more. But at least I'm watching on purpose and not just scrolling through the channels watching any old thing.
DeleteI really should turn off the TV and put down the sweets, too. Then maybe I could be productive and a bit healthier!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'm not sure if I could handle both productive and healthier - my body wouldn't know what was happening! :)
DeleteThe weather decides how much tv I watch. If it's cold and wet, I'm indoors by a fire with a good book or a good movie.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's more my mood. Sometimes I just want to - need to! - veg.
DeleteHehehe! Love that! It sounds like a good night to me. I'll be watching the new episode of X-Files tonight.
ReplyDeleteI never really got into X-Files, and I don't know why. It's the kind of thing I would enjoy. Hmm, maybe another binge watching session is in order.... :o
DeleteWait...the TV shuts off?
ReplyDeleteI started off the year well, productivity-wise, but really fell off that wagon at the end of the month. I shall be attempting to get back on track this month.
Ha! :)
DeleteGood luck with getting back on track!
Love!lol We all get sucked into TV shows and binge watch them. I've been watching my seasons of Charmed and The Walking Dead. :)
ReplyDeleteI so love the early seasons of TWD! Now I want to go back and watch them....
DeleteScary - I used to do exactly that. Only now it's healthier snacks and a huge list of shows.
ReplyDeleteYou're so good and healthy, Alex! :)
DeleteI actually did get a lot or writing done in January. December was my slack month. This month is rewrites and edits for me.
ReplyDeleteYou are always on top of things, Susan! :)
DeleteHa! TV isn't really an issue with me. The 5yo and 2yo don't let me sit through even a 20 minute episode without at least 10 interruptions.
ReplyDeleteSee, now, the tortoises don't do that for me.... :)
DeleteI'm torn between cheering you on in your quest to shut off the TV... and asking if you're watching Project Runway Junior. (They make Tim so happy; I love it!)
ReplyDeleteI only like the Project Runway spin-offs that Tim is on, and I hadn't realized he was on that one! Hmm, you're not helping, Jillian.... :)
DeleteSorry! ;-) I have to recommend it in that case though. It can't match the very best seasons of the original, but overall it's a welcome breath of fresh air with real talent, and Tim's joy at working with non-jaded designers is just lovely.
DeleteI hear ya! I really have to start training seriously if I'm going to get my green armband (prajioud) in muay thai this year.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome - and incredibly hard! Good luck!
DeleteOkay but first can I finish my bag of cookies and the latest episode of X-Files. hehehe
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
Of course! But only if you share.... :)
DeleteI actually had a productive January.
ReplyDeleteBut that was because I'm contributing to an anthology, and was forced to work on edits to have the story ready for the end-of-January deadline.
We'll see what February has in store. Hope I don't get lazy now.
You'll be fine! Just keep that momentum going....
DeleteLOL LOL take out the Chips Ahoy and it's me. I accomplished a lot last night too by watching X-Files again.
ReplyDeleteShutting off the TV??? That's crazy talk LOL.
Okay, you all are not helping. With all this X-Files talk, I actually checked to see if Hulu has old episodes and it does! Trouble! :o
DeleteI was going to be productive on Sunday evening, but then I had to watch Grease Live. Doh!!!
ReplyDeleteHa! :)
DeleteHa! That's a great quote. I know if I want to get stuff done, I have to be careful of what TV shows I put on. I like the background noise, but it has to be mindless TV for me to be productive.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it hilarious?
DeleteI can work with some noise, like traffic in the background kind of thing, but not TV or music.
I am a Downton Abbey with an English Muffin and peanut butter sympathizer. I really must stop with the TV stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell, you are much more refined than I am. :)
