Ah, what would summer be without some creepy tales told around a campfire? How about a prom night gone wrong? Or a haunted graveyard?
And if you like your horror short and sweet - like a s'more! - check out Red Heels and Dark Anemone in the July 2016 issue of Nailpolish Stories. The good news? No danger of cavities! The bad news? Just like those marshmallows, scary stories can stick to our skin.
(And hey, blogging buddy Michelle Wallace has three stories in the same issue!)

We've been having campfires lately. Looks like it's time to read some stories! Hurray for Michelle!
Congrats, Madeline. I enjoyed your pieces. You and Michelle both did a great job. You rock!
I hope you enjoy them!
Thanks, Murees! I'm glad you liked them.
Is that the issue with Michelle's stories? Awesome!
Yep!
Horror stories are like popcorn to me...but then I have nightmares for weeks later. Oy!
Hmm, do they get stuck in your teeth like the popcorn? :)
Nice! Short is how I prefer my horror. I love to be scared, but less so for days on end... I will check it out!
My stories are more creepy than scary, and they're only 25 words each. You should be okay. :)
Congrats to you and Michelle. Your shorts really form a visual in my mind. You're so good with words.
Thanks so much, Susan! I appreciate that.
Nailpolish Stories. I love that.
Yay for Michelle on her three stories!!!
It's one of my favorite zines, and I love being published in it. :)
Congrats to you both! I just read them and loved them! I especially liked Michelle's "Ghostly Green" and your "Red Heels." :) I love how you made each word count. :)
Sounds right up my alley! Thanks for sharing. I'll check it out.
Hope you're having a great week.
Thanks for the shout out, Madeline!
I didn't get any e-mail to say that Nailpolish Stories had published my pieces. Last night, I just wandered by the site and saw them there!
Your stories are always CREEPY GOOD!
Thanks, Tyrean! I'm so glad you enjoyed the stories.
I hope you like them, JH!
So far, so good re the week. Hope the same for you!
Ack! Well, at least it was a nice surprise, right? :)
Is it weird that I find "creepy good" a huge compliment? :)
I like to read horror from time to time, although never before bedtime or at night when my husband is not home. I find that's when the dog is most likely to start barking...or Katie Cat jerks her head up in alarm and stars into the darkness behind my chair. Your short stories sound like good reads!
One of the reasons I love them so. :-)
Anna from elements of emaginette
I'm usually alone when I'm writing, and I often creep myself out. :)
I hope you enjoy the stories!
Thanks, Anna!
Ooo-I like horror stories. Thanks for the info.
You're welcome!
