Motivational Monday

THERE'S NEVER ENOUGH TIME
TO DO ALL THE NOTHING YOU WANT.
(Bill Watterson)

Isn't that the truth?!

Let's make sure we take some time this summer to do at least some "nothing." That sounds sooooo good to me.

How about you all? What does "nothing" look like for you?

  1. Doing nothing is really hard for me. I mean REALLY hard. But I'm starting to learn to let go and relax every once in a while.

For me, doing nothing means walking in the woods and enjoying nature.

    1. I don't so much walk in the woods as walk on the beach. I find that soooo relaxing, even if I am looking for good shells to pick up along the way. :)

  2. It's really hard for me to do absolutely nothing. I always end up thinking about all the other things I should be doing.

    1. I hear that! I'm getting a little better at it as I get older. But not as much as I'd like.

  3. I think that sounds like an awesome idea. I will have to schedule some lazy days. Being lazy is what I miss most about childhood.

  4. I'm not very good at DOING nothing, but I'm currently relishing having nothing definitely SCHEDULED in my summer mornings, as opposed to what they look like the rest of the working year. At least I'm choosing when I do which tasks! Also, since I know how much I suck at embracing nothingness, I recently downloaded the Headspace app and am trying meditation for the first time ever, so we'll see how that goes!

    1. I like the idea of meditation but I struggle with quieting my mind or letting my mind do whatever it's supposed to do during meditation. Let us know how that Headspace app works for you.

  5. I have a hard time doing nothing. I can't even go to the beach and do nothing. Unless reading and writing while on the beach can count as doing nothing.

    1. I think "nothing" is relative - as long as it's relaxing, as long as it's fun for you, as long as it's not a "should" or a "have to" then I think you're good. :)

  6. Man, I would LOVE some intentional nothing time. I seem to get overwhelmed and THAT is when I end up doing nothing...

    1. I know! Sometimes, when totally overwhelmed, I throw my arms up in the air and give up, give in and just take a break for a bit, but that's definitely not the same as intentional down time.

  7. Nothing time is good. We probably don't do enough of it. :)

  8. I think writers have a particularly hard time doing nothing! My idea of nothing is an unstructured day with nothing planned that I just let happen!

  9. For me, nothing is sitting outside in a lawn chair to soak up fifteen minutes of sun while watching the birds and squirrels. Then I move into the shade and just sit. I always have a good time doing this kind of nothing.

  10. Nothing for me is a leisurely walk with the dog, knowing I don't have to rush back, reading a couple of chapters of a book or going for a long lazy lunch.

    1. Ah, a long lazy lunch sounds lovely! Especially if it includes a glass of wine and a delicious dessert.

  12. It's not really nothing, but I love to enjoy a good book while relaxing in a bubble bath. And then there's always episodes of Deadly Women to be watched.

    1. I like the idea of reading in the tub but I'm always afraid I'm going to drop my book in the water. :)

  13. Mmmm. That sounds like paradise. Add a book and a comfy spot and I'd never want to leave!
