Motivational Monday

A FINISHED PERSON IS A
BORING PERSON.
(Anna Quindlen)

Finished?! I'm nowhere close! And I hope I never am.

How about you?

Let's keep dreaming and creating. Let's keep growing and learning. Let's keep challenging ourselves, this week...and always.

  2. I keep hoping to never be finished. Definitely need some polishing in some areas.

    1. I think most of us could use some polishing now and then. :)

  3. I still require so much work that I may never die...

    1. Me, too! So much to do, so much to learn, so many books to read, so many stories to write.... :)

  5. I don't understand how anyone can be a finished person! There's always more.

    1. I guess maybe if you stop learning or challenging yourself or trying new things.

  6. There's always one more hill to climb...at least until the devil catches me. :)

  7. Finished implies the end, right? It means stopping. And who wants to do that?

One of my (non bookish) friends asked me why JK Rowling continued to write even after the last HP book came out.
me: "uh, because she's a writer."
him: "you know what I mean."
me: "not really. Just because she wrote seven highly books doesn't mean she should just stop. You can't stop being what you are, and for her, that's a writer. Do brain surgeons retire after a few successful operations?"

Plus, who wants to be boring? It takes too much energy not to create. In my opinion.

    1. People seem to have many different careers and hobbies and experiences as they age. Maybe there is no growing up after all.... :)

  9. I learn more today than when I went to school. I doubt I'll ever be finished either. :-)

    1. I tend to forget a lot more than I used to. Maybe I should give myself quizzes and assignments, give myself gold stars. :)

  11. Whenever I think I'm finished anything, even a book or a query letter, I find out otherwise. I'm a perpetual work in progress. :)

    1. I love the idea of being a work in progress. I particularly like the word "progress." :)

  12. I know older people who just stop doing anything. They don't leave the house...they just wake up every day, move around, and go to bed at night without accomplishing much of anything. I hope when I get older I'm still doing something...but I'm not sure what that something will be (besides writing, assuming I still have my mental faculties in check).

    1. I know exactly what you mean. I hope I'm still writing and learning, as well as being mentally and physically active as I get older.
