Motivational Monday

SOME PEOPLE FIND FAULT
LIKE THERE'S A REWARD FOR IT.
(Zig Ziglar)

I think we all know someone like that, don't we?

The trick is to not let them burst our bubble or sour our good mood. I hate to admit it but I let that happen way more than I'd like. It's an awful, awful feeling.

But the older I get, the more I realize I only have so much time here on earth. So I ask myself, "Do I really want to spend any of that time with people who bring me down?" Well, duh.

But it's more than that. The older I get, the more I realize how easily I can become that person if I'm not careful, if I don't watch my thoughts and my words, if I don't surround myself with positive, enthusiastic, encouraging and supportive people.

Let's all try to limit our exposure - as much as possible, anyway -  to the fault-finders in our lives. And let's do our best to not become one ourselves.

  1. Amen! Yes, I know people like that. Rather not be around them.

  2. Alex - if you can't avoid them altogether, then limiting exposure is the next best thing. :)

  3. Yes, I know people like that and, yes, they suck the life out of you. It's easy to fall into negativity but it must be resisted!

  4. Simon - I find I'm most vulnerable if I'm having a bad day or if I'm just out of sorts. Got to have your strength up to deal with those people. :)

  5. Oh, this is so true. If you want to find fault in someone or something, you don't have to look far. Compassion goes a long way.
Good thoughts to ponder on, Madeline. Thanks.

  6. Angela - glad you enjoyed it! :)

Emily - compassion AND patience. But the older I get, the less of the latter I have and I struggle to not be a fault finder and a negative person myself.

  7. Yeah, unfortunately I guess we all know people like this. I can't understand it at all.

Just caught up with your post on the notes from the workshop. Sounds like it was a great one! Thanks for sharing. :)

  10. Tara - you can only do so much. Being a good example, like you're doing, will help. It might be a phase, too, depending on how old he is. Heck, I still have phases where I'm gloomy. :)

  11. I think I'm pretty optimistic. In general. It's only when I get tired that I find fault, so I make sure I sleep a lot!

  12. Annalisa - you know, it is really easy to find fault and be cranky and negative when we're not at our best. An excellent reason for taking care of ourselves! :)
