Class Trip

My story, "Class Trip," is up at One Forty Fiction.

It's a short, dark tale that plays on one of my many (many) fears. If you stop over and read it, I'd love to know what you think.

  1. So short and yet so terrifying. Your word choice made the difference.

  2. Laurita - thanks so much! Choosing just the right word is one of my favorite parts of writing micro fiction. (Of course, it's important for ALL fiction!) :)

  6. Oh my, what a disturbing (in a good way!) story! I'm so impressed with your imagery and the punch you pack in such a short tale. Great work!

  8. That did a lot in such a short space. It felt quite visceral, like the sea is an evil character of its own. Quite haunting.

It struck a chord with me too because I've just been on holiday in a cruise ship (remember a certain ship coming a cropper earlier in the year?) We had a couple of really choppy nights and on the second one we heard a massive bang and were sure we'd hit something. Turned out one of the balconies had got ripped off the side of the boat!
