Motivational Monday

YOUR BIG OPPORTUNITY MAY BE
RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE NOW.
(Napoleon Hill)

You just never know, do you?

I entered Robert Swartwood's first ever Hint Fiction contest both for the challenge and for the (slight) chance my work might get in front of judge Stewart O'Nan. I had no idea my story would end up as one of the finalists and would be included in Hint Fiction: An Anthology of Stories in 25 Words or Fewer (W. W. Norton, 2010.)

I went to a book signing mystery author Blaize Clement was having at our local independent bookstore. I had no idea she would invite me to her weekly writing workshop where I would spend the next few years learning so much about writing and life.

I tried to get out of taking the math/science requirement in college and, in doing so, met a guy who became a good friend. I had no idea that, years later, he would become my best friend and husband.

How about you all? What were those moments that turned into opportunities for you? Oh, what if we're in one of them right now?! You just never know... Exciting, isn't it?

  1. Great examples of how life leads you down a path. All it takes is one choice.
I can't think of any instances in my life, but I have a lot of it left to live. : )

  2. Emily, you probably made those kinds of choices already and just don't know it yet. :)

  3. These are all such great examples. Like Emily, I can think of any instances right now but maybe one has already happened and I just don't know it yet. Congrats on the Hint Fiction, I'm going to check that out.:)
