Motivational Monday Quote

I'D RATHER HAVE ROSES ON MY TABLE
THAN DIAMONDS ON MY NECK.
(Emma Goldman)

It doesn't have to be roses; I like most flowers.  It doesn't even have to be flowers and it certainly doesn't have to be diamonds.  I can be wooed very easily with books.  My husband already knows this.  Our wedding gifts to each other were signed and/or first editions of some of our favorite books. We had no idea we were each getting the other books.  But the surprise was kind of two-fold:  the gift of books and the gift of having another person who knows you so well become your partner in life.

Happy Valentine's Day to my husband, my best friend.

I wish you all a wonderful day and a great week. Oh, and come back Wednesday for the start of a new giveaway!

  1. Hi Madeline,
How sweet! Which remeinds me. Chocolate works, too.

  2. Chocolate, yes, but chocolate AND peanut butter even more so. At least for me. :)

(I didn't mention chocolate initially because I'm trying to limit my chocolate binges this year. We'll see how that goes.)

  3. This is a great quote, Madeline. What a lovely story about your wedding gifts to each other!
To this day, my favorite Valentine's Day was when my husband took the day off (I went off to work & didn't know), and he shopped, cooked, and tidied the house, set the table, etc...and made lobster, baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, red roses on the table...and Carvel cake for dessert. Awesome day (& night!).
Books, jewelry, chocolate ~ can never go wrong with those gifts!
