I'm a Poet . . . Sort of.

April is National Poetry Month, and although my first ever published piece was a poem, I do not consider myself a poet. Not even close. But, Stacey over at A Writer's Point of View, reminded me how much fun it is to play with poetry, especially using someone else's words.

So, below you will find my attempt at a "book spine poem" - just read the titles (not the authors' names) from top to bottom. Fun, huh? Give it a try! I'll do a few more throughout the month of April, my own way of honoring all the fabulous poets and poems out there.

  1. Madeline, how fun! I love it! Isn't it a blast to look at book titles in a new way? Thanks for the linky love too!

  2. You're welcome, Stacy! The book titles took on whole new meanings - some of them were almost like mini poems by themselves. I loved this exercise.

  5. Oh, I loved this idea, too, and your poem, Madeline. And Stacy's poem. I think I'll use my writing books to come up with a "Freelancer's Lament." :-)

  6. Thanks, Cathy! I love your idea of using writing books. I did one using mostly mysteries/thrillers that I'll post later in the week.

  9. How cool! :) I don't know if I can do this or not with my non-poetry genes, but I am planning to clean out my office this month. Maybe I should try it with the books I want to donate or even with the ones I am putting in storage, or maybe just the ones I am leaving on the bookshelf. Oh, so many possibilities. :)

  10. You can do it, Margo! Just let the titles tell their own story...
