You Know Who You Are

Some writerly gratitude, from me to you -

" . . . WE PUSH EACH OTHER
TO WORK HARD AND TO KEEP AT IT.
IN A WORLD FILLED WITH PEOPLE
WHO THINK WHAT WE DO
IS A NICE LITTLE HOBBY,
I ALWAYS KNOW
THAT I HAVE A FRIEND
WHO UNDERSTANDS EXACTLY
WHAT'S AT STAKE."
(David Hicks)

Thank you, friends!

  1. The nice thing about social media is that it allows us to find each other. Like minds support each other.

  3. There are so many people who think writing is a hobby. Great to have writer friends who know.

    1. My problem is when people treat my writing like it's not important to me, like it's not a part of me. I'm totally passionate about what I do, and yet a lot of people I know take more interest in the weather. Sheesh!

  5. Without my writer friends, I'm not sure if I'd every write again. I'll be going to a writers' conference in Denver in September where I'll get energized and motivated by the big tribe I belong to there. Writer and supportive non-writer friends are priceless.

  6. I am so grateful for my writer friends and my writing community. That is the one place where I don't have to explain myself, my passion, or whether I'm *ever* going to finish my book.

    1. Absolutely! I never have to worry about blank-eyed stares when I talk passionately about a story idea or characters, etc.

  7. Great quote! Thanks. People who don't care a fig about writing have no idea what it takes to wrestle with the words and tame them into glorious submission. (Ergo the "You haven't finished writing that book YET?" comments.) Sharing support with other writers reassures us that we aren't as nuts as some of our non-writer friends sometimes think we are. :)

    1. Isn't it amazing how many people think writing is easy? Sometimes I just want to show them how many manuscripts I have stacked up, how many rejection letters I've accumulated, how many revision I've sweated over, etc.

  9. I probably wouldn't write as much as needed if it wasn't for online writing friends supporting me.
