Introverts Unite! *

* But, don't worry, we only have to unite in spirit. We don't actually have to go outside or talk to people or anything.

I am an introvert. My husband not only accepts this but also celebrates it. He wants me to appreciate myself and all my eccentricities the way he does. Because, for a long time, I thought there was something wrong with me and the way I moved in this world. So, when my husband recently presented me with Introvert Doodles by Maureen "Marzi" Wilson, it was with the best of intentions and a heart full of love.

Here are a few favorites from her book:

I don't know Marzi, and the only thing I get from promoting her here is the knowledge that by sharing her work, we'll all get a laugh or two, along with the realization that we're not the only ones curled up in yoga pants, binge-watching Big Little Lies and eating chocolate chip cookies. Right? Right? Oh, come on, I can't be the only one . . . .

Are you an introvert? Do you know one? Married to one? Did these cartoons make you chuckle and nod your head in recognition? Plan on checking out Marzi's website and book?

  1. I like to travel and enjoy meeting people with passions similar to mine, so I guess I can't call myself an introvert anymore.

I'm super quiet though so people often mistake me for being shy when in actuality I'm just listening.

    1. Sometimes when you are quiet, people can take that for being aloof when really you're either shy or just listening.

  2. Sometimes home is the best place to visit! I'm mostly an introvert although I've had to learn to step out now and then.

    1. I think most introverts can step out and do things and socialize when necessary - it's just exhausting! Or it is for me, anyway. :)

  3. I'm definitely an introvert! If I have plans I need to mentally prepare for days and then I won't want to make more plans for a long time. You'd think I'd get lots of writing done being so introverted, but sadly, not so much..

    1. I hear you about mentally preparing!

Even though we're curled up at home, there's still lots to distract us introverts. :)

  4. I'm an introvert who has spent a lot of time among people because of job, kids and big family. But home is my favorite and two of my children are introverts too. My husband is a social guy but we work as a couple some how. Hold onto your special guy.

    1. I will definitely hold onto my truly special husband! :) He prefers being home but he does well out in the "real" world, too.

  5. I'm an introvert big time. Which is funny because at my day job I'm in charge of the kitchen.

    1. And I bet you go home and are utterly exhausted, right? Not just physically but mentally. That's the introvert in you. :)

  6. I'm an introvert too, and the older I get, the more I just want to stay home and do my own thing. But...I know being social is important to mental health, so I have good friends to meet for coffee or lunch from time to time, a hairdresser in a small salon who does a scalp, neck, and shoulder massage before a haircut, and a critique group that meets face-to-face every other week. Anything else (like the writer conference I'm attending in early May) is truly exhausting.

    1. I feel the same way the older I get. Okay, I was probably at least a little like that when I was younger, too. Give me a good book and I was - am! - all set. :)

  7. Yes to the first comic! I like to travel, though, so ... after I prepared, bought books for the journey which are more important than anything in luggage other than spare undies, and then read a few travel books, I would be ready to go. :)

    1. I have moments, too, when I'm relatively lively and social. It's most likely a special occasion though. :)

  9. LOL. I used to be more social. Like super social. Kids did me in. Honestly, I'd rather hang out at home with a book than make small talk at the park with other socially-deprived parents while trying to keep the little ones from eating dirt.

    1. I don't know, Crystal, it seems to me like you're creating your own little society over there, with your kids and the one on the way! :)

And you never know, dirt might soon be the new kale. :o

  11. These were fun to read. I'm a partial introvert. For work I can be social, but I find it hard in other places.

  12. Yep, that's me. Although I'll be binging on peppermint patties or licorice jelly beans tonight while watching The O.A. I can't wait to see Big Little Lies though. They better release it as a DVD in the near future.

    1. I'm behind on my Big Little Lies watching but hope to catch up this weekend. Oh, and I like Peppermint Patties, too. :)

  13. Looks like I'm the square peg in the round hole around here. I'm disgustingly extroverted. I will carry on a conversation with just about anybody, and being around a lot of people fills me with energy. It's almost as though there's a sign on my forehead inviting others to talk to me, because other people strike up conversations with me as often as I do with them. I think my kids used to be a teensy bit embarrassed by my behavior, but now they're all just like me. Then again, their father is almost as big an extrovert as I am.

Those cartoons are great, though, especially the last one. For your hubby to give that book to you tells me he's a real keeper.

    1. I love that you're an extrovert! People like me need people like you - you make social situations easier and more fun, take the pressure off us. :)

And my husband is definitely a keeper. :)

  15. Total introvert, faking people out for decades. I'm a great public speaker, which makes people think I'm an extrovert. So wrong. I can talk to a room full of anonymous people one on 100 much easier than one on one.

  16. Okay I need to buy this book now. I enjoy traveling sometimes, but usually only to places where there are no crowds. A crowd of any kind and I am ready to go home LOL.

I can take crowds if I have to, but I really don't like to.
