HERE'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW:
CAN WE LIGHTEN UP
A LITTLE?
(Elizabeth Gilbert)
Yes, please!
The world can be a dark and scary place, but I know that for me, I need to let go every once in awhile. I need to laugh like I need to breathe. I need to laugh until I can't breathe, and I'm gasping and crying and snorting and trying not to pee my pants, all with a huge smile on my face.
When was the last time you laughed like that? Why? What makes you laugh - corny jokes, a TV show, a comedian, your pet? (In our house, my husband is the funny one with great one-liners and puns. The tortoises are a close second, with their funky yoga moves and wrinkly, crinkly faces.)
It's definitely my husband that makes me laugh like that, and it was yesterday
ReplyDeletewith something I can't repeat in polite company. :)
Ha! Polite company? What polite company? :o
DeleteWe do need a good laugh every day. Whose Line is it Anyway is usually good for that.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite newer sitcoms is The Middle - it's "nice" without being schmaltzy and it's funny and clever, too.
DeleteMy pets and nephews make me laugh. And it is always needed. :)
ReplyDeleteI still think of things my niece and nephew have said/done that make me laugh, even years later. :)
DeleteMy pets always make me laugh. I definitely need it today after last night's traumatic TWD! ;)
ReplyDeleteNow don't start that again.... :)
DeleteI most often get those grand laughs--the belly-aching sorts--with a couple close friends, but I do make a point of sharing funny stuff on Facebook and having done that, people now share funny stuff with me regularly. Put it out there. It comes back.
ReplyDeleteGreat point, Hart!
DeleteSome of my biggest laughs come from my daughter. She finds the funniest videos on the internet.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I tend to like those videos of baby animals doing cute things.
DeleteOur home is filled with laughter! The gasping-crying-snorting-trying not to pee your-pants kind of laughter.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is a funny guy and always cracking jokes...
Excellent, Michelle! :)
DeleteI'm glad my recent post made you smile, Madeline. =)
ReplyDeleteThey do say that laughter is the best medicine and that's one thing I don't mind getting refills on.
That really was a nice surprise. :)
DeleteLove the idea of refilling that laughter prescription!
I haven't laughed like that in a while. Laughing does brighten the day. I get most of my laughs from The Big Bang Theory. Dr. Sheldon Cooper is just hilarious.
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE that show! Watched the pilot again the other day and just laughed out loud, especially the last scene when they're all in the car and Howard starts singing. :)
DeleteLaughter is wonderful! TV shows, blog lists (some funny stuff in the list hop from Monday), movies, and books - I love it when they make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things that can make us laugh, smile, and just be delighted. We might need to search them out when the blues/blahs strike, but they're there, they're definitely there. :)
DeleteI was fortunate enough to attend the Surrey International Writers' Conference this past week, and there were many people who made me laugh like that. Jack Whyte, an epic historical fantasy writer, is the champion of the tall tale, and Terry Fallis, who's won the Stephen Leacock award for humour, was hilarious as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's great, JH!
DeleteI agree -- and I need a good laugh like that. Renting a really funny movie might be the solution...
ReplyDeleteOr a bunch of episodes of your favorite sitcom might do the trick, too.
