WHEN I'M TAKING MY LAST BREATH,
I WANT TO LOOK AT
HOW I USED UP THE BEST OF MYSELF.
HOW MUCH DID I
SWEAT,
PUSH,
RIP,
FALL,
HIT,
CRASH,
EXPLODE?...
MY DREAM IS TO BE SO WELL USED
THAT IN MY LAST HALF-SECOND,
I JUST BURST INTO DUST.
(Elizabeth Streb)
Now that's a motivational Monday kick-in-the-pants reminder if ever there was one.
Let's live, people. Let's really live.
If that were true, I think I should've been dust ten years ago. I'm paying for all the falling, hitting, and crashing now. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Madeline!
Ha! :)
DeleteHave a great one, too, Maria.
Yes it is!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeleteI was blown away when I first read them, too.
ReplyDeleteI live more quietly than this, but the end result is similar. I hope to have no regrets and therefore try to make each decision, take each action, live each day thinking of how I impact others. I want to live on by positive resonance.
ReplyDeleteI love your comment, Kai. I, too, live quietly and quotes like this - as wonderful and inspiring as it is - can sometimes make me feel like I'm not being or doing enough. It really comes down to what "living" means to us. :)
DeleteWow! That is powerful. It gave me chills. I think we all want that.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the chills. :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful quote! I could stand to live a little more (or a lot more).
ReplyDeleteAs long as you know what "living" means to you, for you. Check out Kai's comment above. :)
DeleteLike Chrys, this gave me chills! Love it! Thanks as always for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt really does make you think, doesn't it?
DeleteI agree. I need to change my attitude. I need to live everyday and not just say "One day I will . . . " I should absolutely live more. Thank you for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome. :)
DeleteI love that. So powerful!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it spoke to you, Emily.
DeleteOh, this is wonderful. Definitely powerful. With a bang, not a whimper.
ReplyDeleteIt's powerful, like poetry. :)
DeleteGreat advice. Hard to put into practice sometimes when we're caught up in the day to day.
ReplyDeleteI agree. That's why I enjoy coming across these quotes and writing these posts - I need the reminder myself. :)
DeleteThat is a totally awesome quote!!! Where do you find them, Madeline! You seem to have a treasure box of quotes. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I just keep an eye out for quotes - lines, words, etc - that strike me as I read then I save them for a possible future post. In a folder, not a treasure box - unfortunately. :)
DeleteI'll second that! Too often we get wrapped up in the little things that don't matter. One of my favorite quotes is about my life being like a pair of shoes, meant to be worn out in the service of others.
ReplyDeleteThat a wonderful quote and idea, Crystal. Thanks for sharing it.
DeleteAwesome. That is life well and truly lived.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteI dig this! Yes!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
DeleteA wonderfully motivational sentiment. I try... But the mundane tends to get in the way.
ReplyDeleteThat mundane stuff is definitely tricky. We can only do what we can do. :)
DeleteWell, that does work for motivation lol Well said ;)
ReplyDeleteSometimes my own words aren't necessary at all. :)
DeleteWow, this is absolutely amazing and powerful in so few words.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it spoke to you, Kimberly.
