NEVER CONFUSE A SINGLE DEFEAT
WITH A FINAL DEFEAT.
(F. Scott Fitzgerald)
Please don't let one rejection letter or bad review stop you from writing.
Please don't let one naysayer stop you from dreaming.
Please don't let one snide comment stop you from creating.
Please don't let one setback stop you from living the life you desire, the life you deserve.
Keep going! You can do it!
One negative thing should never stop us completely.
ReplyDeleteNever give up, never surrender!
It's a shame, but I think it does stop a lot of people. Not us, though. :)
DeleteThis reminds me of Thomas Edison and his light bulb. "I've not failed. I found 10,000 ways that won't work."
ReplyDeleteHe kept going and look what he accomplished.
It reminded me of that quote, too, Maria. :)
DeleteAGH that second one! I've basically been letting one person's harsh words keep me from writing for several months. It's a hard thing to let go of.
ReplyDeleteSome people recommend using that anger/disappointment/hurt to fuel - not to deflate - our creative endeavors. Easier said than done but maybe worth a try?
DeleteIt always breaks my heart when someone wants to give up with one rejection or hurtful comment. They have to remember it's one person who said that and not everyone will be the same. Write on!
ReplyDeleteIt helps to have someone to remind us of that and/or to have/build a thicker skin. "Write on" is right! :)
DeleteYes, one negative comment should not stop us from writing. We should keep trying and trying some more. Never give up should be our motto.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeletePerfect quote for writers though it's usually dozens and dozens of defeat before victory.
ReplyDeleteSusan Says
Or, in some cases, hundreds of defeats. :)
DeleteI like your inspirational and affirming statements. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome!
DeleteWhat an excellent quote and positive post! Great way to begin the week!
ReplyDeleteI hope it's a great week for us all!
DeleteWise, wise words. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I was brave enough, I'd have this quote tattooed on my arm so I could see it every day, every time I went to write/type, etc. :)
DeleteWise words. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteIt's hard to ignore the negatives of this business, but if you don't you'll never get anywhere with your writing. Good post to remind us of that.
ReplyDeleteI think we can all use this kind of reminder once in awhile. I know I can. :)
DeleteWonderful motivational quotes. I needed those. Indeed there's quite a bit of negativity out there, and we have to remind ourselves to keep pushing forward.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this post helped you!
DeleteOh, thank you. Huge, important words!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteSometimes it is the hope of success and the drop to reality that hurts the most, but I'm back at it just the same. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from Elements of Writing
Keep at it, Anna! :)
DeletePeople are jerks. We have to believe in ourselves no matter what!
ReplyDeleteIf we don't believe in ourselves, who will?
DeleteAll of this! Great motivation!
ReplyDeleteGood!
DeleteAHHH...Thank You!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome. :)
DeleteSometimes the negatives slow me down for a little while, but they never keep me down. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteThey slow me down, too, sometimes. I think that makes sense. As long we don't let them keep us down, it's all good. :)
