Goodbye, July!

I don't know about you all, but I am done with July and ready for August . . . .

* My Camp NaNo experience was a good one - I came out a winner! My goal was less about the word count - 20,000 words, on the lower side for me - and more about achieving a sense of accomplishment, something I've been lacking lately. I'm not sure yet what exactly I'm going to do with this project, but those creative juices are sizzling away on that hot summer sidewalk in my mind.

* I'm still aiming to get my 2nd flash fiction collection, Garden of Lost Souls, out this summer. I've been stalling for all kinds of reasons, but that stops here and now.

* I also need to make health - physical and otherwise - a priority this month. (More on that in August's IWSG post!) Once again, stalling for all kinds of reasons. Once again, that stops here and now.

So, how was your July? Did you win Camp NaNo? Complete any other projects or achieve any other goals? What are your plans for August?

    1. Thanks, Alex! I do need to recognize and celebrate those things more than I do.

And congrats on finishing your story!

  2. Woot woot! Looking forward to the book release. I spent July writing too, and despite the distractions, I've almost hit the 20K work. (That's mind-blowing considering how much sleep I've had.) Here's to powering through the words!

    1. Considering your life right about now, that word count is definitely mind-blowing! I don't know how you do it. :)

  3. Congrats on finishing camp!
July has flown by for me. Well, this whole year has again. I would really like a slo-mo button, so I can figure out what to do for August.

I need to make health a priority next month, too.

    1. Thanks!

I have no idea why health etc tends to be one of the first things I let slide. Sigh.

  6. Congrats on winning Camp NaNo!
I'd really like to be more productive in August. But I think I say that every month...

    1. I say that pretty much every month, too. Part of the problem is that I tend to think I can always do more, no matter how much I actually did.

  7. Congrats on your very productive July! Writing has gone out of the window for me, with summer and a house move. But I'm hatching a plan to step up in August. I'd love to help out with the book release - will there be a launch party/blog tour?

    1. Moving house is rough! Good luck with your plan for August - you can do it! :)

Thanks so much for the offer of help with the collection. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I'm doing and when. I'll probably end up just posting about it here, Marketing-Guru that I am and all. :)

    1. Oh, I hear you! I tend to hunker down in the air conditioning during the summer months here in FL. Hmm, you'd think I'd have gotten more work done....

  9. I had my vacation in July so that was nice--but I'm ready to get back into a routine!

    1. Good luck with getting back into your routine! Sometimes I find it hard to get back into one after vacation, but other times I'm reinvigorated and ready to get back to work.

  11. My July was here today and gone tomorrow -- I know I accomplished a few things, but so much of my time was eaten up by computer problems that it feels like that's all I did. August is going to be so much better!!!

    1. Computer issues can definitely do that. Good luck with August!

  13. Congratulations on your victory!
And I'm definitely happy to see August, even though I totally wasted July. Maybe this month I will finally get my butt in gear.

  14. I've never done Camp NaNo. Just regular NaNo once. Writing is hard in the summer time. Schedules are so irregular and it's hard to get any done.

    1. A lot of people find regular NaNo harder because of all the holiday hoopla. Summer for me is a time of hunkering down inside with the AC on so Camp NaNo works well. :)
