REST IS NOT IDLENESS,
AND TO LIE SOMETIMES ON THE GRASS
UNDER THE TREES ON A SUMMER'S DAY,
LISTENING TO THE MURMUR OF WATER,
OR WATCHING THE CLOUDS
FLOAT ACROSS THE BLUE SKY,
IS BY NO MEANS WASTE OF TIME.
(Sir John Lubbock)
Ahhh....
Permission to relax?
Granted!
I can relax with the best of them!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Alex! I wish I was better at it than I am....
DeleteAfter yesterday (playing in the pool with my nephews), I need to rest my sore body. Ouch! :)
ReplyDeleteBut that's a good kind of sore, right?
Deleteah, yes, thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteIt is a perfect way to relax. Living in the country makes it especially quiet and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, Susan!
DeleteI'll always take permission to relax. =D
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
DeleteSounds good to me!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it?!
DeleteIt took me a long time to understand that bit of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteI understand it, but I'm not doing so well putting it into action.
Deletewas looking back through your May quotes (love them) and saw your IWSG post - how's the progress? =)
ReplyDeleteyay for relaxing and ha haha for the English degrees!
thanks for sticking with me!
Thanks for going back and reading all those posts!
DeleteDefinitely making progress on the house. On the writing, not as much as I'd like, but there's still the whole summer. :)
Thanks, I'll get on that this afternoon. *sticks head out door* Okay, maybe I'll wait for a sunny day. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from Elements of Writing
Good idea. :)
DeleteRelax? What's that? ;)
ReplyDeleteI hear you!
DeleteWe all need more of this. Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI did have a good weekend, although I spent more time doing things like unpacking boxes, etc, than fun stuff but I still managed to enjoy it. :)
DeleteOh yes, I agree. It is so nice just to lay on the grass and look up at the clouds and see yourself touching the funny shapes of cumulus clouds as you let your mind drift wherever it wants to go.
ReplyDeleteShalom,
Patricia
I love watching the clouds! I need to - want to! - do it more often.
DeleteI need to do some relaxing. Nothing wrong with being alone and quiet with your own thoughts...something I don't do enough.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteAhhh...sounds excellent!!!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it?!
DeleteWe all should relax and just enjoy summer every day for at least a little while!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, Stephanie. Taking at least a few minutes every day this summer to enjoy it, to relax, to rest, is something I'm going to aim for.
DeleteThere is wonderful power in the rest and rejuvenation of imagination. Great quote!
ReplyDeleteLove this - "the rest and rejuvenation of imagination." :)
DeleteI think all adults should do this at least once a week!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteLove the poem. That sounds like heaven and definitely not a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteIt really does sound heavenly....
DeleteLove the poem, Madeline. How have you been?
ReplyDeletePretty good overall. I hope you've been well!
