I still enjoy blogging, but lately I find myself...stuck. Is there such a thing as Blogger's Block? If so, I think I have it. I'm struggling with writing posts other than Motivational Monday, Recommended Reading and those eclectic/round up type ones.
Have any of you experienced this? What did you do about it? What about The Shellshank Redemption do you enjoy? What would you like to see, or see more of, here?
I do enjoy it on occasion. I blog once per week and that helps me. One idea a week is easier to come up with than 3 lol. That being said, I still visit my fellow blogger's blogs every single day.
ReplyDeleteI visit other blogs, too, even on the days I don't post. And I always enjoy yours. :)
DeleteI only have one post a week where I have to come up with something original. The other is The Big Reveal with the other authors, so that writes itself.
ReplyDeleteBut there's no way I could do three a week, and two even seems hard. I go I cycles. Sometimes I struggle for something. But right now I've got lots of things that are waiting to be blogged about.
I know a lot of people do different weekly memes. Have you looked into anything like that? I'm sure there's lots out there.
The original posts are the ones I'm struggling with. I only have one set weekly post (Mondays) and one set monthly post (Recommended Reading) so that leaves a lot of blank space. Checking out those memes is a good idea! :)
DeleteI struggle with his on a regular basis and, like you, I rely on my regular weekly blog hops to get by. It puzzles me because there are a billion different thoughts in my head at any given moment and chances are good that the bulk of them (certainly not all) would be interesting to write/for others to read about. And yet...
ReplyDeleteI haven't found the key yet.
But even if you're only posting a couple of times a week, you're still posting- the doors is still open for when inspiration does hit.
I hear you! I've got lots of stuff in my head, too, but not all of it would translate well into posts. Leaving the door open for inspiration is a good idea.
DeleteI've definitely experienced it, and had a terrible case of it over the summer. I do think cutting back on the number of posts can help, or maybe even taking a little break. Although I would miss your posts! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting over the block whatever you decide to do.
Thanks, Julie. :) I am thinking of taking a bit of a break some time over the next month or so, just to regroup and refocus. That might help.
DeleteThere is! If you're stuck, just reduce posting days.
ReplyDeleteIt's rare I don't know what to say, but then, news is always happening somewhere.
I'm not sure I want to post less than two days a week, but I might consider it. And I suppose I can talk about books - I can always talk about books. Just ask my poor husband. :)
DeleteI totally struggle with this. Then I go and do something boring like daily updates on my diet. ahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI do like reading about other bloggers and what they are doing. I like reading about what they are going through with their writing. What their characters are up to... just anything.
I'm glad (kind of) that other people struggle with this, too, and it's not just me. :)
DeleteApart from a brief period when I experimented with blogging to a schedule, I've only ever blogged when I've had something to say, or been in need of help, or just wanted to say 'look at me!' Sometimes I look at the book pages in newspapers for ideas - there's always an author who's saying something controversial if you look hard enough!
ReplyDeleteGood idea about the book pages! I tend to stay away from controversy here at TSR, but I get what you're saying. :)
DeleteMore TURTLES!! And interviews, maybe? That's what I've been dabbling in. More book giveaways? I seem to remember winning a box full of goodies a while back... =]
ReplyDeleteGood ideas, Milo! L and ML are especially excited about your first thought, but my bookshelves (and husband!) are even happier about the giveaway reminder. :)
