I now have to list five things that make me happy - other than the usual family and friends...and tortoises.
1 - reading an amazing book, one that I can't stop thinking - or talking - about
2 - free samples of delicious chocolate covered pretzels where my husband and I had lunch this past weekend
3 - seeing my nephew lose his first tooth while we video chatted!
4 - hearing from readers about how they like one of my stories or blog posts
5 - when I say or do something - hopefully on purpose and not just by being my usual weird self - that makes my husband laugh hysterically

Your turn! What makes you happy? A great cup of coffee? A rainy day? A tear-jerker movie marathon? De-cluttering something? Share in the comments.
Free samples always make me happy :)
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! :)
DeleteLOL. I especially love that last one.
ReplyDeleteI love getting lost in an amazing piece of music. As a composer, I can dive and explore the layers of a single song for days, marveling at the unique and amazing aspects that make a piece truly inspirational. It's bliss.
I appreciate music on probably the most basic of levels so how wonderful for you that you're able to go deeper and explore and really appreciate it. :)
DeleteEven the stuff on purpose that makes him laugh should be fun.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't really care how I make him laugh, just as long as I do. :)
DeleteNumber one is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI just love a good book! :)
DeleteLove the last one on your list.
ReplyDeleteReading an amazing book that I can't stop thinking about always makes me happy.
It's even better when you can talk with someone about it. :)
DeleteI love it when you find a book that you absolutely don't want to put down until you've finished it. They seem to be harder to find lately, but I don't know if it's just me being picky!
ReplyDeleteEvery month I do a Recommended Reading post where I talk about the Standout books I read that month. I might read 8 books, but I'll only mention the top ones (in my opinion, of course!) The May post should go up next week, if you'd like to check it out. Might help you find some good books. :)
DeleteMy son has his first loose tooth right now, so I can really relate to the third one. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday!
Hope your son gets a visit from the Tooth Fairy soon! :)
DeleteChocolate covered pretzels...yum!!
ReplyDeleteWhat makes me happy is spending time with my husband and children, having an unusual stretch of time to write quietly by myself, and chocolate.
Those all sound good! :)
DeleteYour blog makes me happy too, Madeline -- what's not to like about Mr. & Mrs. Larry? =]
ReplyDeleteThank you, Milo! And I'll let the torts know they have a fan. :)
DeleteWith four kids (and now a dog), I'm just happy to see everyone getting along with no arguments!
ReplyDeleteHey, that's a great thing to be happy about!
DeleteThunders storms, spending time with my kids, walking my pup, writing, exploring and at times doing absolutely nothing.
ReplyDeleteI like a good thunderstorm, too, especially when I'm curled up inside with a good book.
DeleteHugs and good friends always does it for me!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs! (See!?!?)
Valerie
