EVERY TIME YOU ARE TEMPTED TO REACT
IN THE SAME OLD WAY, ASK IF YOU WANT
TO BE A PRISONER OF THE PAST
OR A PIONEER OF THE FUTURE.
(Deepak Chopra)
Honestly, at this point, I would settle for just not being a prisoner. The pioneer part feels like too much pressure.
Our "cells" - or bad habits - might be different but the bars are so damn strong, aren't they? I know, for me, that it's taken a lot of effort and energy just to break out of some of those cages - the ones I found myself in and the ones I crawled into myself.

The thing is, I often was, and still am, both the prisoner and the guard. I had the keys, but I kept myself trapped by doing the same thing over and over, by reacting in the same way over and over.
But you know what? I still have the keys. And so do you. Let's use them.
So, this week, let's focus on escape, and on freedom from pasts and past actions that continue to hurt us - physically, mentally, emotionally - today. Maybe we'll become pioneers sooner than we think.

Do something different!
ReplyDeleteAlex - sometimes that's all it takes. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this one. My cells have damn thick bars, I can't deny it. But I'm going to try my best to be a pioneer, very inspiring post, Madeline. :)
ReplyDeleteJulie - maybe we need some cake with files in it. Or maybe just some cake. :)
ReplyDeletethe same old way is instinctive, i should try letting it sink in & think before i say & act! that would be different!
ReplyDeleteTara - the problem I find is that when you start doing things differently, other people might not like it. They often like the "old way' or the "old you" better, but that's not always what's best for us, is it?
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea, Madeline. Not all change is bad! Change can be better for us than our current circumstances.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Emily - absolutely! And Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
