Book News and Funny Stuff

Here are two pieces of exciting book news I thought you all might be interested in:

The first, courtesy of Galleycat - Gillian Flynn, author of Gone Girl, among other dark and creepy tales will be writing not only a new adult novel but also a YA novel! Can't. Wait. Also, The Book Case has a post called Fun Facts from Gillian Flynn - interesting stuff, including the tidbit that she's writing the screenplay for the movie!

The second, courtesy of The Book Case - Khaled Hosseini, author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, will have a new book out in May 2013 called And the Mountains Echo. If you haven't read his two previous yet, please give yourself that gift this holiday season.

And now, if your idea of a workout after eating too much turkey is a good laugh, then check out this Ellen Degeneres YouTube video I came across over at Pam's blog, The Empty Nest:

For all those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I wish you a very happy and healthy one! Enjoy!

  2. I just finished 'Gone Girl' yesterday, as a matter of fact, and was blown away. What a great book - couldn't put it down! Thrilled to hear there's a screenplay in the works.

Happy Thanksgiving, Madeline, to you, your family and your tortoises!

Cathy - thank you! Oh, go back and read Flynn's other two novels - dark stuff but so good. :)

  7. I've heard The Kite Runner is a good one; think I'd like it? I'm in the middle of King's ll/22/63 and am enjoying it -- 130 pages in, right after the nod to IT.

  8. Milo - I would definitely give The Kite Runner a try. It wasn't the sort of book I'd normally pick up but it was so strongly recommended to me by someone who loves to read so... I'm glad I listened. :)

And that SK book is a good one. He's got two more coming out in 2013/2014! :)
