Motivational Monday

SOME PEOPLE WAIT FOR THE MUSE
TO WHISPER IN THEIR EAR.
I SIT DOWN AT MY DESK EVERY MORNING
AND TELL THE MUSE
TO ROLL OVER AND GET HER ASS OUT OF BED.
(Ellen Sussman)

If it was up to my muse, she'd loll around all day, eating cheese and watching Law and Order: SVU marathons, followed closely by more lolling, eating chocolate and watching CSI: marathons. In case you haven't figured it out, my muse wears pajamas, is overweight and has a tendency to talk like a cop and/or a criminalist.

But I don't hold any of that against her. She's usually around when I need her and if she needs those mini vacations now and then, I'm okay with that. I do wish she'd lay off the cheese though...

How about your muse? Do you have to wrestle him/her to the ground to get anything done or does he/she behave like a perfect angel, wings and all?

  3. Honestly, my muse would much rather be working by my side creating and revising new manuscripts instead of watching me ride herd on jr. high students all day!

  5. Based on this description, I think our muses are best friends, the enabling kind that encourage bad habits in each other :-P. Can't live without them though, for sure.

  6. Milo - I just got this image if your muse sitting, chin in hand, and sighing, waiting, waiting, waiting for you to finish "work" so the writing can begin. :)

Julie - I hope you have a great week, too!

Jillian - maybe our muses could be like the Cagney and Lacey of the writing world. Tough broads that wear pajamas and eat cheese. (I didn't date myself too much there, did I? Yikes!)
