Recommended Reading: THREE WEEKS IN DECEMBER by Audrey Schulman

I know, I know - I already did my Favorite Reads of 2011 BUT I finished this novel after I posted that list and I could not let much more time go by before I mentioned this book.

I received an advanced reader's copy (ARC) of Audrey Schulman's Three Weeks in December and I dived right into it, not coming up for air until I was done. The story is suspenseful and fascinating, and it has just the right amount and types of details - no information dumps here. The two main characters are complex and intriguing, and their alternating points of view are equally compelling. The descriptions are not lavish and long-winded - they are tight and controlled, yet rich with power and insight, and every sense is utilized.

I'm going to put this in perspective for you - it's no secret I love books, right? And I often rave about great books here on the blog. But the other day, my husband - who tends to enjoy nonfiction more than fiction, who only has a handful of favorite novels - finished Three Weeks in December and said he believed that was the best book he'd read all last year

So, please hurry and order it now or go get on the "reserve" list for it at your library. (No way I'm giving up my ARC!) It comes out January/February 2012 and I can't think of a better way to start out a new year's reading list.

[Disclosure: I occasionally receive review copies of books. I don't get paid, I only write the review if I choose and receipt of the book in no way influences the content of the review.]

  1. ARC's are so cool. Maybe the best perk of being an aspiring author.

  2. It's even better when you end up loving the story and can tell people about it ahead of time. :)
