What's on "The Other Side of the Door"???

My flash piece, "The Other Side of the Door," is up at Fiction At Work!

I went in a bit of a different direction with this one - a little creepier than most of my usual stories. But you know what? I kind of like it.

I hope you do, too.

  1. Wow. That was simply stunning. Especially this line: A guttural, glottal sound heaves its way down the hall, the floorboards creaking with its weight.

    Superb!

  5. Hey Madeline, I received my book today and have dived right in. Enjoyed your flash. I especially liked the image of a glass animal walking off the table.

  8. "She lays her hand upon the door as if to still the monster's heartbeat."

Beautifully done. I can never get me head around writing short-short-shorts, so my hat really comes off to those who can, and who can do it well. Great story, and definitely "creepy" :)

  9. Thank you so much, Shane! I love to challenge myself by writing flash, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Glad this one worked! :)
