Motivational Monday Quote

I ADMIRE ANYBODY WHO HAS THE GUTS
TO WRITE ANYTHING AT ALL.
(E.B. White)

Writing guts are raw and messy. They're like an open wound, or one whose scab has been picked off, oozing onto the page. Our insides become our outsides - our muscles are in the metaphors, our lungs are in the lilt of a line of poetry, our spines are sunk into the sentences marching across the screen.

To all my writing friends, be strong and be proud! Writing is not easy, but it is oh so very worth it.

  1. What a vividly accurate portrayal of what we do. Writing is like bleeding at the typewriter, but it's also a healing process. I know it's uplifting when I phrase something just right, or complete a first draft. Thank you for your encouragement!
