It's no secret that I love books. And I mean I love books. When my husband and I cleaned out our bookshelves at the beginning of this year, I actually cried a little. (I swear I don't know how my husband puts up with me.) I kept telling myself that all of the "going" books would be donated and they would find new homes, etc. It worked. Sort of. (More on that next month...)
So, since this is the month of love, I thought I would give away something I love (no, not my husband or the tortoises!) - a book! And not just any book. It's a book about...books! And reading. And the difference between a book and a blog. And... I better stop before I give it away. Well, actually I am giving away...
...a fresh copy of It's a Book by Lane Smith! Amazon called it: Playful and lighthearted with a subversive twist that is signature Lane Smith, It’s a Book is a delightful manifesto on behalf of print in the digital age. This satisfying, perfectly executed picture book has something to say to readers of all stripes and all ages.
(It is a picture book, but you might want to check out some of the reviews and use your own judgment before giving it to a child. Me? I don't like to share books so I'm keeping my copy, thank you very much. It makes me laugh.)
All you have to do is leave a comment in this post about a favorite book, one you're reading now and loving, one you're looking forward to reading, whatever. Anything book related is fine. One name will be drawn - somehow, someway - at random and I'll post the winner over the weekend. You have until midnight EST on Friday, February 18th.
Good luck!
One of my all-time favorite picture books is Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathmann. It makes me smile every time I read it. Right now, I'm reading Secrets of Eden by Chris Bohjalian and Traveling Light: Poems by Linda Pastan. And my to-read stack is enormous! :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Stacy - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI met Chris Bohjalian years ago - he was so nice and encouraging re my writing.
And don't get me started on my "to-read" stack! :)
Hi Madeline,
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't see this sooner.
Please enter my name.
Thanks,
Donna
Hmm, technically, Donna, you didn't leave a book-related comment but since I hang out at your blog, I'll let it slide. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh! I made it on time! I LOVE LANE SMITH. I would LOVE to win this book!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm reading A Tale Dark and Grimm right now and LOVING it. It's grim, it's fairy tale-ish, it's funny. ALL the things I love in one book. (Except for my name as author. THAT would make it perfect :-)
Oh, Cathy, the book is a real hoot! Thanks for stopping by. :)
