I was actually going to write this post two days ago when I was still only halfway done with the book. I couldn't wait to talk about it, that's how much I liked it. But then I got so caught up in reading the rest of it anyway, the blog (and a few other things, like cooking dinner) got pushed to the back burner.
So, here we are, and like the title of this post says, The Postmistress by Sarah Blake, delivers. I had first heard about the book online and made a note to pick it up. Then, my friend Deb at Circle Books, recommended it also. How could I go wrong?
The Postmistress is the kind of book I would like to write. The kind you can't wait to tell your mother/sister/aunt/best friend about. The kind of book where the story stays with you and the characters linger at the edges of your memory. The kind of book that might garner awards and high ranking on popular lists, but it's the spirit and the enthusiasm, the word of mouth of its readers that make it the true bestseller.
I've been reading so much YA lately, I haven't had time to read anything else! But isn't it wonderful when you get so excited about a book that you have to tell everybody?! (And by everybody, I mean it-now the whole wide web world knows!)
ReplyDeleteAnd P.S. I kinda like your blog, too :-)
Thanks, Cathy! I love reading YA, too. Let me know if you've got any recommendations.
