The Empty Nest made the Top Ten (out of 200+ entries) in The First Hint Fiction Contest. It was then read and judged by Stewart O'Nan. It appears in Hint Fiction: An Anthology of Storiesin 25 Words or Fewer (W.W. Norton.)
