Motivational Monday

THE SECRET OF CHANGE
IS TO FOCUS ALL OF YOUR ENERGY,
NOT ON FIGHTING THE OLD,
BUT ON BUILDING THE NEW.
(Socrates)

Oh, there's been a whole lot of "change" this past month! All of us here at TSR are doing our best not to drown in packing boxes, not to walk into the closet thinking its the bathroom, and not to freak out that the only time the bedroom ceiling fan makes a weird clacking is when we're in bed, lights out. (Please, oh please, don't let it be haunted....)

But we're also excited and hopeful that this new chapter in our lives will be full of joy and laughter, creativity and spontaneity, good health and well-being, and as always, gratitude.

Have you all experienced any huge changes lately? Made any small adjustments to how you do things that yielded big results? Any idea where I can find the refills for my stapler? They've got to be around here somewhere . . . .

  1. Nope. But I have a feeling some big ones are coming...

Hope the new place turns out to be great. :)

  2. Hope all the unpacking and sorting goes well. I moved twice in two years. Not fun! Hated living out of boxes until we got everything put away.

Big changes are exciting and a little scary. Hoping some good ones are on the horizon.

    1. So. Many. Boxes.

I hope good changes are on the horizon for you, too. :)

  3. Moving is always exhausting.
Hope your ceiling fan isn't haunted...

    1. I'm still exhausted!

And I think we got the ceiling fan situation worked out now. :)

  4. Big (((hugs))) to my move sister! Yes, I know exactly what you're going through. I've been battling the cable company all morning (plus part of the day Friday), trying to explain that NO, we can't go two weeks without internet. In the meantime, boxes everywhere and our bed won't be delivered 'til Wednesday, so we're sleeping in the guest bedroom. Just when I get used to sleeping in there, I'll have to learn where the bathroom is in an all new room! I can't wait for "the new normal" to be here. You're closer to it than I am.

    1. Big (((hugs))) back at you!

Yep, we were without the internet for a week. Don't get me started....

But hang in there! It will get better/easier. That's what I tell myself anyway. :)

    2. My husband's trying the whole, "I work from home don't you know how important I am?" routine, but they don't care. I'm ready to switch to AT&T (what we had before) but it's slower. I think both Comcast and AT&T are equally hated! This Comcast Mover's Edge program is a crock, though...it only really works if the house you're moving into had Comcast when you moved in.

  5. Moving is such an undertaking. Think of all the great stories if it is haunted. I have a lot of extra staples on my desk if you don't find yours.

    1. All I can picture with the haunted ceiling fan is the thing coming down in the middle of the night and...never mind. :o

And I might just take you up on those extra staples....

  7. Worse part about moving: packing -.- Good luck with that!
I'm not sure I've had any HUGE changes, just minor ones I guess. Like trying to be more active with my writing social media stuff. And actually writing more (which I've been slacking on for months now).

    1. Welcome to TSR! It sounds like you're getting on track with writing and social media.

Love the unique spelling of your name! :)

  8. I know the answer to one question: Office Depot carries staples. :-) As to change, nothing huge, just constant. I think you need your house to be haunted. Just imagine the stories you'll get from that. Good luck with the move.

  10. I keep thinking my house is haunted too. Usually it's just my reflection, but you never know, so I keep my door closed when I change. Makes me feel better.

But I'm in the same boat with you - recouping from a move. Hope you're able to find your bathroom and the staples. I'm sure they're around there somewhere!

    1. My husband actually brought home staples for me today. :)

  12. Re: Please, oh please, don't let it be haunted....

LOL. More likely the fan needs a little oil where the blades attach to the housing, or it's unbalanced, in which case you might have to take it down and tighten the screws, or sometimes it just needs cleaning.

It happens to ours all the time.

Change? Lately there have been too many. I could really go for some boring stability right now. I'm exhausted.

    1. We fussed with the fan a bit and it's better. My imagination? Not so much. :)

And I'm with you on wanting some "boring stability" right about now.

  15. Change is good, change is good (a chant I periodically do to convince myself). It will all be sorted out soon, right?

My big change was breaking the foot bone and finding myself sidelined for a while. I honestly think I'd rather be moving from one house to another....and that's something I've been resisting for years.

    1. I might need to borrow that chant of yours....

I think you've accomplished more sidelined than most people usually do. :)

  16. I'm so glad I;m not the only one whose brain jumps to scary things like ghosts and such when things go wrong.

Enjoy the new house. How exciting! My boys are coming home from college this weekend, so life will get busier around here fast!

  17. no big changes yet, but expecting something soon - not looking forward to it, but a necessary evil... and maybe it will go away. so instead of worrying about it, i pray about it and keep chugging. i know your move will bring great new things! your positive outlook makes it so!

  18. Congrats, Madeline! I wish you all the best in your new home. We're planning a big move to a tropical island next year--an island we haven't seen as yet. Sometimes it seems absolutely mad, and other times it seems like the only sane thing to do.

    Good luck with the stapler!

  20. Good luck with a smooth move in. Change seems to be something we humans don't deal with very well. Right now there's not much happening in our neck of the woods - just the release of a new book, which is more exciting than change!
