Motivational Monday

THE ONLY NOVELS WRITERS REGRET
ARE THE ONES THEY NEVER GOT AROUND
TO WRITING.
(Nathan Bransford)

This quote gives me the chills.

Let's make sure we're not the people who are always saying they're going to write a book...some day. Make that day today. Start now. Or make that day this November - sign up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo.)

I don't want to reach the end of my life with stories left untold. Do you?

  1. Your last sentence gave me the chills! I hate the thought of stories untold.

  2. I have so many novel ideas floating around in my head, I don't know how I'll ever write them all.

    1. Write however many you can! That way you'll know you did what you could and can rest easy.

  3. I'm trying to write all of them! I think my problem is the stories aren't cooperating with being told lately LOL.

  4. LOL! Erm, I'm going to need about 5 lifetimes to tell all the stories just waiting in my folders right now, but I suppose that's why it's good I've gotten some of them out there. At least not ALL of them will go unwritten. ;)

    1. That's the way to do it, Crystal! I think the idea is more about not ever taking the chance/seizing the opportunity to write the story, putting it off, letting perfection get in the way, etc.

    2. Totally. I have had so many conversations with people where they say, "I want to write a book one day!" Or my personal favorite conversation:
Potential writer: "I'm writing a book."
Me: "Oh yeah? How far are you?"
      PW: "Two chapters."
Me: ...blank stare... Can't stop thinking, "Well, it might happen but you've got an awfully long way to go."

    3. At least they started it. Two chapters are better than nothing. :)

    4. It's true, but it makes me chuckle--just knowing the road aheads if they're serious..

  5. I definitely don't want to leave stories untold. I should find a way to write faster.

  6. Such a great quote! Love it! So cool that you're doing NaNo—good luck! I don't know if I can do it this year. I think I want to focus on querying instead of writing in November...we'll see. :)

    1. Thanks! Maybe you could make November your National Novel Querying Month. :)

  7. I've got lots of stories to tell, but I need to work on revisions too. So I won't be doing NaNo this year. I did it a few years ago and made it, so I know I can.

    1. I skipped NaNo last year to work on revising a ms, too, but I really missed it. Good luck with your work!

  8. That is a powerful quote. I have a long list of books I want/need to write and I sure hope I can write them all!

  9. I think it's inevitable for me. The only way I'll have time to write every story I want to is to quit my day job and live in a van down by the river!

    1. Try a mobile home/RV. That would be way more comfortable. :)

  10. This is great and something that I really needed to hear. Thank you so much for this.
